FAQ | PEP: Peace for Every Pet

Peace for Every Pet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-4851115) incorporated in Missouri on April 29th, 2025. We applied to become a nonprofit with the mission of "providing assistance, support, resources and euthanasia and hospice services to animals in need."
As stated in our Mission, our specific goal is "removing financial barriers so that no pet experiences prolonged suffering or an undignified passing, and no family faces financial burdens when saying goodbye."

We are incredibly excited about all of the possibilities, but at this time we are focusing on developing the means to provide 2 main services via our licensed veterinarian:
1) In-Home Pet Euthanasia Appointments
2) In-Home Pet Hospice Appointments
Once we have established ourselves as local providers of such appointments regardless of financial and mobility limitations, we hope to expand our services for homeless populations, elder care facilities, and more

What species will PEP serve?

We provide care and support for a variety of companion animals, including:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Rabbits
- Ferrets
- Birds
- Fish
- Pot-bellied pigs
- Reptiles
Note: At this time, we do not provide services for horses, cows, or other livestock, as they require specialized euthanasia techniques beyond our current scope.

We will ensure no pet is denied care due to financial hardship by:
- Structuring fees around federal poverty guidelines to guarantee affordability. Our three-tiered pricing model adjusts charges based on household income relative to the federal poverty line, so families in Tier 3 (at or below the poverty line) will receive services at no cost, while Tier 2 families pay half of the at-cost fee. Only Tier 1 families (above 200% of the poverty line) will be charged the full at-cost fee.
- Requiring an income verification statement as part of the appointment sign-up form. Families will be required to electronically sign a statement confirming the accuracy of their income bracket. This will create accountability and ensures our resources are allocated fairly.
- Prioritizing mission over profit. Our core goal is to prevent prolonged suffering due to financial limitations, so we will never turn away a family based on inability to pay. Instead, we will adjust fees or provide services free of charge as needed.
- Maintaining transparency about our fee structure and mission, so families understand upfront that cost will not be a barrier to care.
By combining an income-based fee system with a signed commitment to truthful reporting, we will uphold both integrity and compassion in our service delivery.

With our tier-based sliding-scale fee model, we classify families based on their income relative to the federal poverty line.
- Tier 1: Households making 200% of the federal poverty line will be charged the full at-cost appointment fee
- Tier 2: Households making 100-200% of the federal poverty line will be charged 50% of the at-cost appointment fee
- Tier 3: Households making less than 100% of the federal poverty line will be charged $0 for an appointment

Absolutely! On our Ways to Give page, we will provide wishlists from common sites with items that would benefit our mission.
